Sellers hope that new owners have ‘right vision’ for the historic property
A piece of history is currently up for sale as an old theatre in Birkirkara is up for sale after being left derelict for years.
The Prince Theatre, once a grand venue, is now “a hidden gem waiting for a visionary touch,” according to the property listing by Sean Busuttil Cordina, a real estate agent with RE/MAX Central Legacy Estates.
Speaking to WhosWho.mt, Mr Busuttil Cordina shares that the current owners inherited the building, which had been leased for decades, and recently regained control over it.
For a time, it was used as a warehouse and storage space by the local band club, which also used the space to build props.
However, the building is now in a derelict state, as can be readily observed in photos.
It continues: “A staircase leads to the first floor, where a balcony overlooks the expansive seating area below. The main hall, once bustling with audiences, now stands as a vast open space with the original stage still intact, ready to be reimagined.
“Despite years of neglect, the property’s robust structure hints at its former glory. While the corrugated sheeting and false roof are in poor condition, the underlying bones of this pre-1967 building remain mostly sound.
“A thorough clean-up and comprehensive restoration will reveal the true potential of this space.”
“They were not in a position to close though, and the owners could not keep waiting. Now, they just hope that it goes to someone with the right vision.”
